Ingredients
6 cups flour, sift before measuring
3 heaping teaspoons baking powder
2 cups white sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
little nutmeg
1 cup shortening
1 cup plus 1 to 2 tablespoons milk
1 teaspoon lemon extract
Raisins
Instructions
Sift together dry ingredients and add 1 cup shortening.
Mix as for pie crust, use two table knives.
Add enough milk to make a dough. (You may need a little more milk, but add just a little at a time.)
Add lemon extract and raisins to suit your taste.
Form a ball, roll or pat out to ½ inch or so.
Sprinkle with sugar.
Cut with biscuit cutter or top of water glass. Place on greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 375° for about 15 minutes.
